Divide the class into two or three teams and ask each team to stand in a line facing the board, about ten feet away if your classroom is big enough. Issue each team a board marker. Tell the class a topic you would like to focus on, for example, “Capital Cities.” The student at the front of each line runs to the board and writes one word related to your topic, for example, “Paris” or, “London.” She then runs back to her team hands the pen to the next student at the front of the line before taking her place at the back of the line. The student holding the pen runs to the board, writes another word, heads back to his team, hands over the pen and goes to the back of the line. And so on.
